You are not alone in this tragedy. There are local agencies, such as the Red Cross that are equipped to help you and your family. Fallbrook Hospital, the Sherriff's department and local churches are also great sources of help and resources.

  • Focus on something positive
  • Return to normal routine as soon as possible
  • Get away for a few days if you can
  • Seek help if you need it
  • Recognize that some of you will be in your homes a year from now, others will still be going through this process two or more years from now

The U.S. Fire Administration, a division of FEMA (Federal Emergency Management Agency) is dedicated to education and recovery for wildfire incidents.

Some people just want to 'be doing something' in their recovery efforts. A booklet (that is in pdf format and can be downloaded) from the USFA called Returning to Normal includes the following topics:

  • The First 24 Hours
  • If You are Insured
  • If You are Not Insured
  • Valuing Your Property
  • Replacement of Valuable Documents and Reocrds
  • Salvage Hints
  • A Word About Fire Department Operations
  • Emergency and Nonemergency Numbers
  • Notes/Information
